Northern Varsity Soccer Players- Boys

Beat the Canes!
Senior Captain Chris Dryhurst about to kick the ball after they won a penalty kick.
This was a tournament game against huntingtown, at Huntingtown.

The Northern boy's soccer team had a wonderful season this year. They worked very hard to pick up the slack from the players they lost last year and they've been busy teaching the new kids the ropes about what it takes to be apart of the Northern Varsity Soccer Team.

Last weekend, Northern beat Huntingtown in a tournament game 2-0. Ever since they won it has started a rivalry on facebook. Since Huntingtown beat Northern in a season game and then Northern comes back later on and beats Huntingtown 2-0 the playoffs should be very interesting. Both teams are out to beat each other. There has been a fued on facebook about who might win. Both teams think it's going to be their night.

Shoot and Score
Senior, Andrew Garner kicking the ball past Huntingtown's mid-fielders. "We put up a good fight in the Huntingtown game. We will see them again in playoffs."

The soccer team had their anual patriot classic soccer tournament on October 23, and they wanted to raise awareness about Breast Cancer Month. So, they all got together the night before the tournament and made pink shirts and designed them how they wanted them to look. Most put their names on the back in silver glitter. It was great to see them putting a real effort into raising awareness by wearing pink and having a lot of fun doing it as well.

We've got the Spirit
Seniors Jake Miller and Travis Ganun showing their spirit on Neon Day. " I just really wanted to go all out wearing pink. So I put on the pink shirt and I had a pink necklace laying around and I borrowed the pink glasses from a friend."

This year Northern's Seniors went all out for spirit days. They even made friday "Black Out" day since the Homecoming game was on Thursday and they weren't allowed to have a special spirit day on Friday. So they decided to make their own day and keep it top secret so only the seniors would know, and they had a great turnout. " It was really cool that the seniors decided to be rebels and make their own day because we only had three spirit days our senior year and nobody was happy about that." Said senior, Kaley Lang.

Deck the Halls with Neon Pink
Senior Conner O'Dell showing her spirit on Neon Day. " Neon day was awesome because what girl doesn't want to be fully decked out in pink? But I will say that my eyes started to hurt after lunch because of all the neon colors."

Walking through the halls on neon day all you saw was neon orange, green, yellow, and pink. Many students used duct tape to cover their shirts and neon leggings. Also hair color was changed on some students. A lot of students met in the parking lot to spray paint hair early before school.

Freshie on Varsity
The only freshman on varsity soccer, Ryan Phelps, kicks the ball past Huntingtown's defender in an attempt to score a goal. "Being the only freshman on varsity is pretty cool. The guys welcomed me onto the team and also my older brother Justin is on the team too so it's a lot of fun."
